“The beginnings and ends of shadow lie between the light and darkness and may be infinitely diminished and infinitely increased. Shadow is the means by which bodies display their form. The forms of bodies could not be understood in detail but for shadow.” -Leonardo da Vinci
Within the depths of our Self, we are split into two, into balancing opposites of light and dark. This is inherent within us, it is something that makes us who we are as souls having a human experience.
In society, one of the highest ranked fears is fear of the dark. We don’t want to be there, don’t want to face that which is uncomfortable, we don’t want to be alone. We yearn for the light, for the peace of mind that everything is okay and for that comfortability of the concept of unity. Ahh…unity, togetherness, peace, home. These are things we all want to feel in our lives. But how can we truly know the reality of these emotions unless we too, have felt the feelings of separation, loneliness, agitation and abandonment?
As humans, we epitomize the symbology of the yin yang. Our life experiences are entwined & interconnected with these two unwavering forces of light and shadow. As da Vinci wrote, we cannot truly understand in detail the form of ourSelf without the shadow. So discover yourself without fear of the dark. Look in the mirror and face yourSelf.
Close your eyes and look inward. Do not be afraid of what you see, because it is all a part of you. Because what you are is a beautiful creature living the dance of manifested creation ✨
